Abstract

This article explores the rich, often overlooked tapestry of non-Western art, delving into the artistic traditions of civilizations from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania. These cultures, steeped in oral traditions and spirituality, communicated their histories, worldviews, and philosophies through complex artistic expressions—without written records. By examining the art of these civilizations, we can trace their social structures, beliefs, and interactions with nature. The essay argues that non-Western art forms not only reveal unique aesthetic paradigms but also serve as vital historical documents, preserving the narratives of peoples whose voices were often marginalized by Western historiography.
