Withdrawal Policy

The International Journal of Innovative Research (IJIR) follows a transparent and structured withdrawal policy to ensure that both authors and the journal maintain clarity and fairness during the submission and publication process. The policy defines the conditions under which authors can withdraw their manuscripts and the steps involved in doing so.

1. Eligibility for Manuscript Withdrawal

  • Before Acceptance: Authors can withdraw their manuscript from consideration at any time before it has been formally accepted for publication. Withdrawal at this stage does not incur any penalties, and the manuscript will be removed from the journal’s review process.

  • After Acceptance: Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, withdrawal is allowed only under exceptional circumstances. The corresponding author must provide a valid reason for the withdrawal, and this request will be subject to the journal’s editorial review.

  • Post-Publication Withdrawal: After publication, withdrawal is generally not permitted, except in cases of serious ethical issues (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification). In such cases, the author must submit a formal request, and the journal's editorial board will review it before making a decision.

2. Withdrawal Procedure

  • Written Request: To withdraw a manuscript, the corresponding author must submit a written request via email to the editorial office, explaining the reasons for the withdrawal.

  • Timely Notice: Authors are encouraged to inform the journal as early as possible to avoid unnecessary processing or resource allocation. Delays in withdrawal requests after the manuscript has been assigned to reviewers or has entered the editing phase may result in administrative fees.

  • Communication with Reviewers: If the manuscript has already undergone peer review, the editorial board will inform the reviewers of the withdrawal and cease further review activities.

3. Consequences of Withdrawal

  • No Further Processing: Once a manuscript is officially withdrawn, it will not proceed to the next stages of publication, including final editing, typesetting, and printing.

  • Notification of Withdrawal: The journal will confirm receipt of the withdrawal request and notify the corresponding author of the withdrawal status. Any further action will be halted immediately.

  • Archiving: For manuscripts withdrawn after acceptance or post-publication, details of the manuscript (such as title, author names, and abstract) will be retained in the journal’s records for transparency. However, the full content will be removed from the public-facing archives.

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Plagiarism and Misconduct: Manuscripts will be subject to withdrawal if found to have violated ethical standards, such as plagiarism or data manipulation, either before or after publication.

  • Author Conflicts: In cases where an author has a conflict of interest or ethical issue that affects the integrity of the manuscript, the editorial board may request the withdrawal of the paper. The authors will be informed of the decision, and the manuscript will be removed from the publication process.

5. Withdrawal After Acceptance and Fees

  • Administrative Fees: In cases where a manuscript is withdrawn after acceptance or during the editing phase, the author may be required to pay administrative fees to cover processing costs incurred up to that point.

  • Non-Refundable Fees: Any submission, processing, or publication fees paid for the manuscript will generally be non-refundable once the manuscript has entered the review process, even if the withdrawal request is granted.

6. Exceptional Circumstances

  • Miscommunication: In case of miscommunication or technical issues (such as problems with the submission system or incorrect handling of the manuscript), the journal will review the circumstances on a case-by-case basis and may allow for an exemption to the withdrawal policy.

  • Appeals: Authors may appeal the decision if their withdrawal request is denied after acceptance or publication. The appeal will be reviewed by the editorial board, which will assess the case and determine an appropriate course of action.

7. Impact on Future Submissions

  • Repeated Withdrawals: Authors who frequently withdraw their manuscripts or request withdrawals after acceptance may face restrictions on future submissions. The editorial board will assess such cases to ensure fairness in the submission process.
